The project aims at pilot application in Bulgaria of the methodology for determination of ecological potential in highly modified water bodies (HMWB). The methodology is based on the so-called "Prague approach", proposed by the WFD Working Group ECOSTAT and focused on mitigation measures to minimize the environmental impact of the hydromorphological pressures and water abstraction, including dams operation.
The public procurement was awarded by the Basin Directorate - Plovdiv to a consortium of Ecosystem V2 and the Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture – Plovdiv. It was successfully implemented in 2018.
