- Assessment of the Net Impact on Biodiversity in the cement sector (NIA), developed by the Cement Sustainability Initiative;
- Toolkit for Ecosystem Service Site-based Assessment (TESSA), developed by BirdLife International in partnership with a number of organizations;
The main conclusion of the analysis shows that after the implementation of proper and comprehensive measures for rehabilitation of extraction sites, the net impact on biodiversity may be significantly mitigated. When planning restoration activities, a holistic approach should be applied, not limited to the compulsory technical and biological rehabilitation practices, but aiming at the gradual restoration of a functioning ecosystem.
